More About Girls Soccer Informational MeetingThe Canton men had a banner day at the State Finals on Saturday. All four qualifiers ran tough races and walked away with a PR or their 2nd fastest time ever. As a group, they ran four of the 13 fastest State Finals times in Canton history.Aiden Pengelly put his seven straight victories up against the best in the state. Mixing in with the leaders at the mile mark, Aiden and two other runners broke away and pushed the pace to the entrance to the stadium (about 2.35 miles). As the other two runners broke away, Aiden fell to about 8 seconds out of 2nd place. But with about a tenth of a mile to go, Aiden changed gears and ran down the 2nd place runner taking the silver medal with an amazing 15:01. It was the best finish in school history, and shattered the Canton school record (Aiden’s). 2nd for Canton was Adam Dicken. More About Canton High School Athletic Hall of Fame Press ReleaseShorthanded Canton qualified four runners for State Finals as Aiden Pengelly wins Regional ChampionshipAiden Pengelly took the lead about a half mile into the Regional Final and never looked back. He finished with an amazing 15:17 becoming only the second Canton runner to ever win the Regional Championship.Steven Dusseau and Adam Dicken earned all region medals finishing 14th and 15th. Ben Clark qualified for Saturday’s final as well, out sprinting competitors to take the final individual spot.The Canton men will compete at the MHSAA Finals on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn.
More About Boys Cross Country RegionalsCanton Girls Swim & Dive (CGSD) finished off their dual meet season (Thursday, Oct 17) with a win at home vs Novi Wildcats. After this meet vs Novi, the CGSD seniors were honored for their commitment to the program. JV Field Hockey pulled a 2-0 win with scores by Lauren Meyers and Olivia Weiss.Varsity took control of the game from the beginning going into half time with a 3-0 lead and ended with a 5-0 win with scores by Teresa Smith 3 (senior), Elizabeth Burnham (junior), and Sammy Jost (senior).Monday, October 14 P-CEP Field Hockey hosted their last home game of the season against Dearborn. P-CEP freshman played a tight game with a 1-0 lead at half time with a score by Camryn Wilson. Dearborn tied the game in the 3rd and pulled ahead winning 1-2. Varsity dominated the game winning 8-0 with scores by Sammy Jost (senior), Teresa Smith 3 (senior), Ellie D'Angelo 2 (senior), Elizabeth Burnham (junior), and Emily Foss (junior). More About Winter Sports AnnouncementsCanton came back only three days after the City Championship to race at the River Rat Invitational. Despite some tired legs, the Cobras came away with a strong 2nd place finish.Aiden Pengelly once again dominated the field winning by a full 45 seconds. He set a new Canton record for the River Rat Invitational and has become one of the favorites for the Conference Championship.Steven Dusseau (16:25), Adam Dicken (16:44), Neel Bangera (17:04), and Ben Clark (17:16) all scored for the Cobras. Neel's time was a new best by 13 seconds.Canton races Thursday at the KLAA Championship.
