Canton Girls Track & Field Team finish in 8th place at KLAA Conference Championship


The Canton Girls Track and Field team had a good showing at the KLAA Conference meet this past weekend. The most notable was senior Cara Newman pulling off the double and being crowned conference champ by winning both the 1600m and 3200m runs. She ran a personal best in the 1600 with a 5:01.16 and was the only runner to break 11 minutes in the 3200m with a time of 10:57.89.  Junior Mira Renaldi earned all-conference honors by running a personal best in both the 100m and 300m hurdles. She finished 7th with a 16.78 in the 100m hurdles and 5th with a 49.77 in the 300m hurdles.  Junior Taylor Steinagel also earned conference honors with a 3rd place finish and a personal best time of 59.20 in her 400m race. The team had several personal and seasonal best results for the meet. The team ended the meet with an 8th place finish. The next race will be the MHSAA Regional Meet on 5/19 at Stevenson High School.
