Boys Track & Field State Championship
Updated on 08/11/2024
Congratulations to our state qualifiers and coaches and families who traveled out to Kentwood yesterday to compete at the MHSAA Division 1 State Championship! Overall, Canton earned 14 points and tied for 14th out of 61 D1 teams competing from all over the state!

PHOTOS are here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/sQTeZWVYTyhfvKep7 THANK YOU so much to Lori Lookliss for making the trek all the way out to Kentwood and taking so many great pictures, giving our athletes and families memories to keep!

States are scored like an invitational, with points from 1st to 8th place 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1, the top 8 finishers are All-State and receive medals.

CONGRATULATIONS to Quincy Isaac (11) who REPEATED as State Champion in the Long Jump yesterday! Quincy jumped 23'3.75" to place 1st and go All-State in a field of 36 competitors!

CONGRATULATIONS also to Nathan Levine (12), who jumped 6'7" in the High Jump to place 5th and go All-State in a field of 35 competitors!

CONGRATULATIONS to Adam Dicken (11), who just can't stop breaking his own records, and this time he did it at States! Adam ran 1:54.59 in the 800m Run, a new PR and NEW SCHOOL RECORD, and while he was just one position outside of All-State in 9th place, it was an unbelievably tight finish and there's no doubt he'll be back next year!

So proud of all of our athletes who qualified for States and competed yesterday, Division 1 was incredibly competitive this year and our athletes made a great showing among the many hundreds of competitors there:
  • 1st place, Quincy Isaac (11), Long Jump, 23'3.75"
  • 5th place, Nathan Levine (12), High Jump, 6'7"
  • 9th place, Adam Dicken (11), 800m Run, 1:54.59
  • 10th place, Mitchell Clark (12), 3200m Run, 9:20.05
  • 12th place, Brandon Blandino (12), Mitchell Clark (12), Clark Madden (11), Adam Dicken (11), 4x800m Relay, 7:59.14
  • 16th place, Quincy Isaac (11), High Jump, 6'3"
  • 18th place, Quincy Isaac (11), 200m Sprint, 22.69
  • 22nd place, Brandon Blandino (12), 4:25.49
  • 33rd place, Nathan Gilmour (11), 23.18
Several of our athletes qualified for more than one event but scratched out of one or more because of the timing of the events, a missing athlete, or because they wanted to focus on one event. A SPECIAL MENTION to Phinneas Guoin (10), who qualified and traveled to Kentwood to compete in the 4x100m Relay but was unable to because one competitor was absent and the relay had to scratch. Thanks to Phin for his efforts and congratulations for qualifying, he is a talented sophomore who will no doubt get a chance at States again in the future!
